Cookie & Local Storage Policy

This policy explains the small number of essential cookies and browser-storage keys the Service uses, why they are exempt from consent, and why you will not see a cookie banner.

Summary

The Short Version

We use only strictly-necessary, first-party cookies and essential browser storage. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Our product analytics (PostHog) runs cookieless — it stores nothing on your device: no cookies, no localStorage, nothing. Because nothing we store requires consent, we provide this disclosure instead of a consent banner.

This policy supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes the personal information we process more broadly.

Cookies We Use

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. We use only the following first-party cookies, all of which are essential to operate the Service:

Authentication / session: Set by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in and to secure your session. Without these you cannot log in or stay logged in.
Preference: A single first-party cookie that remembers a UI preference so the interface behaves consistently across visits.

These cookies are “strictly necessary” — they are required to deliver a service you have explicitly requested — and are therefore exempt from consent under the EU ePrivacy rules and UK PECR.

Local storage

Browser Storage (localStorage / sessionStorage)

Rather than cookies, the Service keeps most preferences and drafts in your browser’s local and session storage. This data stays on your device and is used to make the app work the way you expect. Examples include:

Your active group selection.
Deck-builder drafts you are working on.
Whether you have dismissed onboarding or informational prompts.
Game lobby and play-surface settings.

These keys are functional and are set because you are actively using the corresponding feature, so they are also exempt from consent. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings; doing so may reset your in-progress drafts and preferences.

Monitoring

Error Monitoring

Our error-monitoring provider (Sentry) processes minimal technical data to capture and diagnose errors and performance issues. This is not advertising and does not use advertising cookies. Session-replay recording is disabled — we do not record your screen or session.

No tracking

What We Do Not Use

No advertising or marketing cookies.
No cross-site or third-party tracking cookies.
No analytics cookies or storage — our product analytics runs cookieless and stores nothing on your device.

If this changes

If we ever introduce advertising or non-essential tracking, we will add an appropriate consent mechanism (such as a consent banner) and update this policy before doing so.

Control

Managing Cookies and Storage

You can control or delete cookies and clear browser storage through your browser settings. Because the cookies we use are essential, blocking them may prevent you from signing in or using core features of the Service.
